Toon SWAG at #BlogHer12
Next week, I'm headed to BlogHer in New York.
My SWAG? I’m gonna draw people I meet …and tweet the toons with #JCsaw.
If you’re at BlogHer, and you'd like a little toon swag, come and say hi. I’m easy to spot cuz I’m animated.
OK, I’m a little more 3D in real life. But you’ll see this drawing on the back of my hoodie.
Fun fact:
I won a BlogHer Voice of the Year VOTY honor for my MotherHOOD story so I figured I should prolly go.
Another fun fact:
I’ll be bunking with Anissa Mayhew and the Aiming Low gang which in itself is toon-worthy.
Anissa’s one of the few people I let boss me around; she's just good at it! Anyway she talked me into drawing on people at the Come As You Are (#CAYA) party next Saturday night. I was wondering what I should draw and thought maybe Pickle Weasel could make an appearance along with other fruits and veges that may or may not look like Channing Tatum. Anyways I promise I’ll tweet photos of the drawings I do on peoples arms and ...well, just their arms.
Yet another fun fact:
My presence at BlogHer is partly sponsored by SeeSaw’s Internet Media Labs - YAY! SeeSaw is a visual way of seeing Twitter and it's amazeballs. I reviewed it here.
If you can’t be at BlogHer in person, you can follow my drawings on my #JCsaw board on SeeSaw. For that matter you can check out everyone’s photos from the conference by searching #BlogHer12 on SeeSaw. The pix will update in real time... which is almost as good as being there.
Except that I won’t get to meet you.
I'll be drawing my toon swag on my iPad using Adobe Ideas and a Wacom Bamboo stylus.

Impressions...
I'd like you to meet a couple friends of mine. This is Mariannie; she does not like blackflies.
And this is Bruno. He's a drummer...and a dreamer.
Bruno was the drummer in this band that I was in. I introduced him to my friend Mariannie and then they got married. And 22 years later, they're still together. Cool, no?
I just felt like drawing them.

The Balancing ACT.
Trust is huge.
But even between best friends, a small misunderstanding can have terrible consequences.
There are times when you must really stretch to bring things back into balance.
Although emotionally taxing, it's usually worth it!
However, it's a good idea to talk about things afterwards so it doesn't happen again.
Also, remember to use the bathroom before going out.

Feeling the PINCH.
Remember this? I blogged it as the COFFEE Conundrum about 6 weeks ago and Pinned it right away.
Amy the Coffee Lovin' Mom said she noticed the image appearing on Facebook and then on Pinterest, but not linked back to me. For the record I don't really mind my images getting around on social networks (as long as it's not generating revenue without my permission, cuz that would be very UNcool). But even though I had Pinned the drawing myself, there were tons of re-Pins from another source.
Pinterest makes it easy to link back so it seemed worthwhile chasing it down. Amy and I waded through thousands of coffee related images (I want a coffee so bad right now) and she managed to follow the trail back to this Pin 'uploaded by user'.
Why indeed...? It's possible she saw the image somewhere else on the net (maybe Facebook?) and downloaded it. I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt. So I left her a note asking her to link back to the COFFEE Conundrum. Hopefully she will!
Do you Pinch when you Pin?

The BIG BANANA.
I saw "Magic Mike" last night. Then I had a dream about a really big dancing banana. True story.
I think Channing Tatum is very appeeling. See what I did there? Haw haw!
Whelp. Sometimes dreams don't mean a thing.

I Draw YOU - @susanborst
After tweeting via #UsGuys for a little over a year, I finally met @susanborst IRL; we were both speakers at the #140conf in Montreal this May.
A consummate social-media professional, Susan is a world-class combination of intelligence, beauty, and humor. She's a high-level critical thinker and a leader of thoughts. Also, she enjoys a nice cool glass of Chardonnay. It goes without saying that she is a fan of my work. Oh...did I just say it? Oh well!
Sometimes I just gotta draw the people that I meet.
And now please fill in the thought balloon: what do "Thought Leaders" think about?

DOG Daze.
Here's my dog doing some more funny stuff.
She's very clever. But she doesn't like to show off by doing tricks.
If you think this is 'submissive' posture you are wrong. And if you'd like your fingers to remain attached to your hands, you should not interpret this as an invitation.
Multi-tasking? My dog can sing and do the bum-drag at the same time.
I love my dog.
I drew these on my iPad, using Paper and a Wacom Bamboo stylus.

The Dare.
"Dad can you drive me to my friend's house please?"
"Sure, just let me get dressed." The Huz was wearing naught but his flip-flops and a sarong. For those who know not what a sarong is, it's a piece of pretty cloth wrapped around the waist and worn by men and women alike in South East Asia. Rather like a skirt. Yes, his nipples were showing.
So of course I said, "I dare you to go wearing that." He rolled his eyes and smiled, picked up the car keys and headed for the garage with the 12 year old boy in tow.
"I'm prolly going to tweet this!!!" I shouted after him. The Huz just laughed.
He had that evil twinkle. It reminded me of that thing he did with that bucket...
An hour later he came back and said he'd been to the shop on the way home to pick up some music equipment. The Huz asked them for a discount since he was only wearing a sarong. And they gave it to him. Oh yes they did. And he said they offered him a further 10% off if he was naked.
I dunno, I think he's making that last bit up....
I sat in my garden and drew this on my iPad, using Paper and a Wacom Bamboo stylus.
